When a change of venue is granted in a jury trial, who goes with the defendant?

October 29, 2009 - 6:58 pm 3 Comments

In a change of venue, do both public defenders (defense attorneys) and the prosecuting attorney go to the new venue, or does the prosecuting attorney change? I presume that the judge will always be from the new venue.

Thanks, Henrietta
I am adding these details after the first two responses: The change would be to an adjacent county where the prosecutor is not licensed, but the public defenders are. The new county would also not be within the jurisdiction of the present judge. The reason for the change of venue is because it is a very high-profile case that everyone in the present county has an opinion on.

First of all, the prosecutor is licensed by the state and can practice anywhere in your state. You’re confusing licensing with elected. In a change of venue case, all the legal parties remain the same. However, as a practical matter, the judge and the prescutor may trade a case with the other jurisdiction if they have a case that has been moved, also. I’ve tried change of venue cases with out of district judges and prosecutors. A true change of venue case means only the location of the trial has changed.

How do you purchase the rights to cartoonshows and televison shows?

October 29, 2009 - 6:58 pm 2 Comments

Is it possible to buy the rights to old cartoon shows and and televison shows? And whom do you contact about it? I dont have any cartoons or shows in mind in particular just wondering.

I reckon it is possible. Somebody owns the rights to all media related products, I´m sure somebody owns these and everything in out materialistic world has a price. Whether it is realistic is a completely different matter. If you are talking about Disney or Hannah Barbera (sorry I don´t know how to spell it), then I reckon you have no chance. They are not in the industry of selling some of their prized goods, no matter how much you offered. I think maybe some companies just do not sell for nostalgia, or whatever reasons. If you are talking about the BBC, again being government supported, I think money is not an object so you will have no chance. Companies have spent a lot of hard work making these shows, I don´t think they would like to see royalties going to somebody else. If it is Remotesville Super Independent Media then you might stand a chance. Again if you pay enough, the smaller company may bend. I don´t know the law of copywriting either, and have probably just wasted 5 minutes of you time. But I think it is possible, just not likely.

What are good ear plugs for rock concerts?

October 29, 2009 - 6:58 pm 1 Comment

I’m going to see Metric in 2 days and a few bands in the next few months. I want to be able to hear without making people yell at me after these concerts. What kind should I get? Should I get a certain NRR rating?

you don’t need ear plugs unless you have really close seats. if so any type will do, the majority of basic earplugs provide enough protection for a concert.

What is the difference between a normal McFly tour and their UCAP (Up Close And Personal) Tour?

October 29, 2009 - 6:58 pm 2 Comments

I went on their Radio:Active tour last November and I’m now going on their UCAP tour, whats the difference? Do you get to meet them?

I think the difference is Radio:Active was an arena tour where a whole bunch of their fans were in one huge place where some had to sit very far away. Whereas the UCAP tours are in smaller venues where they can see their fans and their fans can see them closer. I have no idea if you get to meet them..you can probably interact with them more at the concerts than the arena tours. But i think you probably need backstage passes or to go to meet and greets to meet them..unless your really close to the stage.

Do you know the tour dates and locations of the Grateful Dead in 1995?

How Much is a Plane ticket to Hawaii?

October 29, 2009 - 6:58 pm 5 Comments

How much is a plane ticket usually worth from Houston to Hawaii?
I haven’t planed on what island, but i just want to know how much a plane ticket cost so i can start saving up.

The last time I went from houston to hawaii it was around $600 per for coach and continental has a non stop for around $900. I recommend using continental, I have flown this airline many times from houston to hawaii and hawaii to houston, being in the military, stationed in hawaii and my family living in houston, i have tried almost all the airlines going to and from over the pacific and I think they are the best.

How can I connect a home theatre system to a computer?

October 29, 2009 - 6:58 pm 1 Comment

I have a 1000w phillips home theatre receiver with 5.1 speakers and want to hook it up to my computer for FULL surround sound (not stereo rca).

I also have a barracuda sound card and 780i motherboard that are both 7.1 compatible and a sambsung 26" hdmi monitor and a blueray drive by sony.

What connections would I need to make this happen so I can listen to blueray movies on these speakers?

You are going to have to have either an optical or digital coax cable to get actuall surround sound from the pc to the sound system.

Hello there
I am the surfer

The new danger posed by soviet union was a shocking awakening for american public opinion

1.) The realization that soviet espionage stole american atom bomb was the signal of "Friend" now public enemy ( korean war and early 50´s)
2.) The berlin airlift : (1947) the soviet closed all surface access to berlin , so the newly independent air force was tested, the mighty air force ( not cocky marines) was able to supply 1,5 million civilians with out a single shot fired ! the air force effort was the new signal of new american role of western leadership! the us air force was able to carry the public message , failure meant no one was to stop soviet aggression and america lost face to every one
3.) The korean war . (1950 - 1953) 50 ,000 dead and wounded to save a country no one cared or knew about, yet because of that today south korea is a free democracy producing cars , not communism , bicycles , rice paddies and prison camps
4) Cuban crises (1962) : american public and armed forces realized cold war had reached their back yard! that american proximity was not so safe ground any more!
5) The space race the technological prowess (1960´s) to bring a man to the moon (20 july, 1969) in the "name of science" was a great feat to defeat soviet science, industrial strength and space leadership
6) Vietnam war (early 60´s- late 70´s) : the failure of vietnam meant open public and political distrust against the white house and the military and a lost of face of usa military supremacy!
7) The installation of defense systems around mayor cities like san francisco (lovely city by the way!) meant that nike and ajax anti ballistic missiles signaled to people that they were not safe, that war had reached their door step ( that was by early 70´s)
8) So as a consequence every family that could started to build secret anti missile silos at home inside their basement, nuclear bomb paranoia reached american minds !
9) The white house built several new facilities (such a construction programme started early 50´s) ) to counter atom bombs
so new military expending meant a new surge of military capabilities and defense systems , that money was badly needed to make roads, hospitals, school for children, that military money was better devoted to health care and pension benefits and to fight poverty
10) Domestic espionage : (started during the late 60´s) every one who oppose white house was considered communist spy, agitator and political enemy ( remember the fight for civil rights or the fight for unions and labor rights was seen as communism subversion)
11) Domestic espionage cia and nsa were tasked to spy on american civilians suspected of communist sympathy for their political opinions
12) Military technology and civilian benefits (the whole cold war) the same industry that helped the military get the upper hand contributed for civilian benefits examples cars . the same factories that produced military jeeps and trucks sold those to private sector and civilians.
Nuclear power and radiation nuclear power to produce bombs was used to heal cancer with radiation. the same engines to produce military planes was also used to produce civilian planes to expand aviation travel industry. Rockets satellites and bombs also carry cnn satellites signal to watch news from around the world..
