What concerts are going to be in Hawaii for 2009?

February 14, 2010 - 5:01 pm 2 Comments

Are there any more concerts coming up in Hawaii (Oahu) for the rest of 2009? I missed the Taking Back Sunday and 3OH!3 concert, so I’m really hoping for another to come up before this year is over. Specifically towards the end of December if there are any, cause that’s when I’ll be on Oahu.

How Do Artists Preform Concerts While Speaking A Different Language Then The Foreign Fans?

January 3, 2010 - 3:44 pm 2 Comments

How do artists travel all around the world on tour and preform concerts for people in foreign countries, when those people speak their native tongue? I expect the artists don’t learn all languages, but I think it would be quite awkward for them to preform in a different language to people who don’t understand what they are singing. Someone explain this to me please. Thanks in advance!

I have thought about this too, but 1 of my favorite bands is Equilibrium and they sing in German. I don’t speak 1 word of german, but i love it and I’m sure it’s the same for everyone else from around the world.

How Much Do Tickets Cost At AFI Concerts and What Is the Minimum Age?

December 17, 2009 - 8:52 pm 6 Comments

I know there are no AFI concerts currently scheduled, but after their next album there probably will be, so I have a couple of questions.

1. How much do tickets for pretty good seats generally cost?

2. I’ve heard that the minimum age to go to a concert is 18 or 21 because of alcohol. Is this true?

Thanks in advance…

1. Lets see, they would probably cost the same as a normal concert. But it all depends on what arena they would be playing in. If they are playing in a stadium..of course the tickets would be priced a little higher, but if its in a normal concert arena then expect it to be around 50- 70 $ …but again it sort of depends on the arena size.

2. No No No. I went to an Evanescence concert, they sold alcohol and its still all ages. I’m sure AFI would be probably all ages (knowing some of there music). It takes a lot to make it restricted, lyrics, band members actions ect..

I hope you’ll be able to go! Me and my friend have been dying to go to one of their concerts..but they dont play around were we live. They are suppose to put on a great show. I hope we helped!

What camera is good for recording at concerts?

November 23, 2009 - 7:22 am 1 Comment

I really want the cool pix camera, the one thats touch screen with ashton kutcher in the commercials, but is it good for concerts? if not could you let me know which camera might be. like when you record it doesnt sound like a bunch of fuzz and bass. thanks (:

First of all, you may not be allowed to bring a camera into the venue, I’d check first.

Next problem is that concerts are a low light situation, usually also coupled with much movement as well as a fair distance from the subject.

All up, that makes it EXTREMELY challenging. The only hope of half decent concert photos are good DSLR cameras and even for those you need very good and very FAST lenses.

Little P&S cameras can NOT keep up in that situation, least of all if you’re not right in front of the stage.

If you can’t have a good camera with you, at the very least make sure you learn how to you use what you have, so you can make the most out of it. Read your manual several times, attend a class, read some books on photography - it will help a lot.

If I understand your last sentence correctly, you also expect a tiny little Point & Shoot camera to somehow magically produce excellent sound, and in difficult circumstances, no less?
It is not going to happen. There is a reason why people who record music for a living have HUGE amounts of very expensive equipment!

Signing in your name at concerts?

November 20, 2009 - 11:06 pm 3 Comments

There is the local venue I go to all my concerts to for a few years now and a few months ago they started having the people sign their names on a list. I was wondering why they might have started doing this.

In case anyway gets hurt, or does something stupid/unlawful such as fake id/passes

what camera would you say is best for recording concerts?

November 18, 2009 - 7:13 pm 2 Comments

Video/Digital camera maybe under $250?
I go to a lot of shows and i only have a cheap 10mp digital camera. Its sound comes out full of static and you can’t understand anything.

What camera or recording device is best for recording concerts/shows/anything loud?

The "best" will be any device with manual audio control. The automatic audio gain control in any camcorder get overpowered by loud audio resulting in clipping and that muddy and static sound.

Correctly using manual audio control prevents that clipping because it bypasses the auto mic gain control. The least expensive current camcorders - of which I am aware - with manual audio control are the Canon HV30 and the Sony HDR-HC9. They are well outside your budget.

An alternative is to keep using the camcorder you are using and get an external audio recording device - a field recorder - like those from Zoom, Edirol, Marantz, Sony, and others. When you edit the video, import the audio from the field recorder, sync the audio, then mute the audio that came in with the video.

Do concerts sell all their tickets during presale?

November 18, 2009 - 5:46 am 3 Comments

I’m just wondering if concerts sell all their tickets during presale, or if they have some more tickets reserved. This is pertaining to Taylor Swift’s Fearless concert, if that helps.

No they don’t. I know this because I actually tried to buy tickets during the presale for Taylor’s concert today but the presale tickets sold out to fast. I called ticketmaster and they told me that they only release a certain amount of seats from each section for presale. So they still will have tickets available during general release.

Who is in the picture behind every Carlos Santana concerts?

November 15, 2009 - 1:02 am 1 Comment

I have been in at least three Santana concerts and have seen just as many concert videos. And, on every single one I notice the picture of a bearded man in the background. Who is this man? Is he the head of a religious group, a Guru, or political figure?

Probably Caesar Chavez, but I’d have to have my memory refreshed. I can’t find a pic. There’s also that radical that Obama likes but I can’t think of his name…but it’s probably Chavez.
