How do you find the price for a ticket that will maximize revenue using quadratic equations?

February 14, 2010 - 5:00 pm 1 Comment

The question is:

The city bus company usually transports 12 000 rides per day at a ticket price of $1. The company wants to raise the ticket price and knows that for every $0.10 increase the number of riders decreases by 400.

I figured it up to: y = 12000 + 800x - 40^2, but how do I find the the ticket price?

riders = 12,000 - 400 * increase / 0.1

revenue = riders(1 + increase)

substitue riders into bottom equation:

revenue = (12,000 - 4000 * increase )(1 +increase)

= 12000 + 8000 i-4000 i ^2

take the first derivative which is f ‘ (i) = 8000-8000i, solve for zero, that is either a max or min, here is a max, i = 1 dollar, check to see if it makes sense in the equation and if it is a local max. good luck

I was in a car accident it was not my fault but i got a ticket because driving with out a license. How much would it be here in California?

That will depend on what district you got the ticket in. Best bet is to call the phone number on your ticket and ask. They’re really the only people who can provide you with that information.

How much is a speeding ticket in Indiana?

I got a speeding ticket today and I also got another ticket for not having my license with me. I was going 55 in a 40 mph zone. So about how much would I pay?

it varies from state to state but with a plus 15 mph speeding ticket and one for having no license with you, i’d guess you’re looking at several hundred bucks, my guess is $335. Just a guess. Be thankful–in some states they would probably tow your vehicle.

What happens when you do not pay a speeding ticket?

I got a speeding ticket nearly 3 years ago, forgot to pay it. I’ve been pulled over multiple times since then and I have been to court for other tickets. I have also renewed my registration and requested a drivers abstract and the ticket was not on my record.

You may have just gotten lucky. Stop speeding and you won’t have to worry about tickets.

What would be the easier way for me to purchasing my ticket with debit card?

January 20, 2010 - 7:40 am 2 Comments

I am possibly returning to my country and I need to purchase one-way ticket to Tokyo (Japan).

What would be the best way for me to get ticket without using my credit card?

I want to use debit card or cash (if not) .
Am I able to purchase my ticket with debit car from Expedia or other online places?

Or Would that be easier if I book my ticket from travel agency?

If your debit card has the Mastercard or Visa label you can use it anywhere you can use a credit card… Based on your question, I assume it’s just a simple ATM card with no credit card company affiliation…

There is Bill Me Later, which is essentially a credit line that allows you to purchase items online. I believe it’s only open to US customers, so depending on your status in the US you may not be able to participate. For example, if you’re here on a tourist visa and thus have no social security number you wouldn’t be able to apply, but if you are here under a work visa with a SSN, you should be able to apply. There are quite a few travel options that use Bill Me Later, such as Hotwire.com, BookIt.com, JetBlue, Continental, US Airways, and some others.

I am not aware of any travel agencies that use PayPal, so as far as I know, that’s not an option.

The only other options I can think of is using an airline ticket office (some airlines do still have ticket offices in larger areas), a ticket counter at an airport, or a travel agency. In all those cases, call ahead to see if you need to bring cash or if they can process an ATM Debit card. I would also suggest using sites like Travelocity and Expedia to find out what airlines are offering the best deals, and what times of the day, and which days of the week, are cheapest so you can tell them exactly what it is you’re looking to do.

Good luck and sayonara!

Buying an air plane ticket for someone else overseas?

January 16, 2010 - 6:58 am 2 Comments

I’m actually wondering this since a friend of mine can not afford a flight to a European country and another friend overseas in Europe offers to pay her an airline ticket to visit a European country. I wonder, is this even possible?

It can be done but it has complications, such as: if using a credit card it may be required to match the passengers name. I’ve run into that problem buying tickets for my children.

Also while the Airline should be able to help you, that will probably be the most expensive ticket. I would suggest you check, AAA or a local agent that will deal with you personally.

How long do you have on a warning ticket in DC before they issue a regular parking ticket in a residential are?

January 12, 2010 - 8:19 pm 1 Comment

I got a warning ticket on 12/01/09. I thought that I had at least 60 days to take care of my tag situation before they would write me a parking ticket for failure to have DC tags. So how long do you have before they are suppose to write me a failure to have DC tag ticket?

Tag situation, like in vehicle license plate tags, out of state license plates in another state no current tag(s).
If you are in the DC or any other area and have out od state tags, but; are a military personnel, your home state becomes your sate of actual residency, unless you move into permanent housing, then your residency becomes within the state of new residency then you have 60 days to update your status.
If it is tags were expired and never renewed, under DC law you have 30 days to be in compliance see: 50.1501.02 (b) (1)

How much is a speeding ticket for going 85 in a 65 in California?
I was heading northbound on the 101 yesterday evening and got ticketed by a Santa Maria police officer for going 85 in a 65 zone. I have a good driving record what should I expect to pay and how does it work?

Obviously, it is not on your ticket. That information is not on any California traffic citation. I was waiting to see if anybody else gave you the right answer, but since not I will answer it again. The statewide schedule calls for a fine around $330 for 16-25 mph over the limit. Traffic school will cost up to about $50 more, but keep it off your record.

How did the crotch bomber get an airplane ticket without a passport?

January 6, 2010 - 4:02 pm 13 Comments

The ticket counter agents at the airport wouldn’t give him a ticket because he didn’t have a passport. Then they were sent to their manager’s office and the bomber allowed to his ticket and get on the plane. Why isn’t this being investigated and why isn’t the news media talking about this?

It looks like this is another US mind-control operation to justify taking away more civil liberties and zaping our bodies with deadly radiation at every airport.

its all part of the zionists plan to continue to dupe america into financing and fighting their war against muslims . the zombie like reaction after he just fried his own genitals was a dead give away that he was a zionist controlled manchurian candidate , designed to get caught so he could "warn" us of the 25 other "plots" . this mission was allegedly a meticulously planned al queda operation . well , any mad chemist / bomb maker would know that that type of acid would melt and dissolve the plastic syringe that was to be used to injected it into the petn condom .

What do you think my fine for my speeding ticket will be? and will my insurance go up?

January 3, 2010 - 3:43 pm 6 Comments

I’m a 17 girl who got a speeding ticket for the first time for going 53 in a 40 mph zone at night on a pretty empty street. I live in california and I am planning on going to traffic school to erase the point from my record. Does anybody know how much my ticket will be and if my insurance will go up ( I am on my parents insurance). I heard that if you do traffic school your insurance won’t go up, is this true?

You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here - autoinsurance.maclenet.com
