Signing in your name at concerts?

There is the local venue I go to all my concerts to for a few years now and a few months ago they started having the people sign their names on a list. I was wondering why they might have started doing this.

In case anyway gets hurt, or does something stupid/unlawful such as fake id/passes

You know what really grinds my gears?
People in the 19th century.
Why don’t they get with the freaking program? It’s called an automobile, folks!
It’s much faster than a horse!

To have an account of who is there or not. Also maybe as a sign of being a club/membership type deal so you can’t sue them.
