Call and set up an appointment, explain to them what you are trying to do and ask if you can depend on their support, and what can you put them down for., Once you have one sponsor you can use that as leverage in going to the other businesses. Money is tight this year, but donations are a tax write off, so that may help, and certainly it is a wonderful cause. Make it clear why do you need their money and how can you asure them that the money makes it to the destination. Then invite every potential sponsor personaly explaining their ideas to them.
