Keeping Bouquets Fresh

So you’ve got some fresh new flowers by post from someone. And you want to keep them as fresh as possible for as long as possible. How?

Adding a coin to the water might get your hopes up for a while. But because copper is a natural antibacterial item, on around day four the flowers may open and droop a little, and then around day seven the stems may be pointing in every direction. Your flowers will bloom beautifully, but they will also wither quickly. And don’t add bleach to the water. Bleach kills important nutrients and this will actually make the flowers die even quicker.
