How do you transfer shows from a satellite receiver to a hard disk drive?

I want to know how I hook up a USB 2.0 external hard disk drive to my satellite and transfer shows on to it so I can burn it to a disk. Once it is hooked up then what?

I am interested too so I am going to keep an eye on this one.
