- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
- Jesus Christ Superstar (you do need a great tenor to play Judas though!)
- The Wizard of Oz (the RSC version, much better than the MUNY version)
- Cabaret, if the school will let you, it’s possibly a bit risque!
- West Side Story
- Return to the Forbidden Planet
- Fiddler on the Roof
- Little Shop of Horrors (no good for a big cast though)
- Singin’ In The Rain (if you have two great guy tap dancers)
- Once Upon A Mattress
- Oklahoma!

Im really not sure but I was in Music Theature during Highschool.. We performed several shows but the most memorable ones and the ones I enjoyed the most were "Once Upon an Island" (which was my absolute favorite) and "Bye,Bye Birdie" They are fun, exciting, and high schoolish.. And ours shows were packed each night of these shows..

Here’s some good musicals:

1. Seussical (fun, with LOTS of leads and good dancing breaks. Good ensemble pieces too, such as "Here On Who")

2. Urinetown (fun, a fair number of leads and lots of ensemble pieces.)

3. Honk! (fun, story of the ugly duckling. A few leads, and a few dancing parts.)

4. The Music Man (Really good ensemble piece, with a fair number of leads and quite a few good dance moments.)

(All of these shows will draw crowds too, whether because they’re newer and fun or classic and fun).

Another thing to look at when choosing what musical to perform is what musical other theatres in your area have recently performed. Say, if they had done Seussical, you might be able to rent set pieces/costumes from the theatre to save yourself some time.

Check around for well known musicals, but look for the "Junior" edition. I played bass in the pit band for Sound of Music [original] AND the Junior edition. All the goodies remained- they just yanked the weird keys and awkward transitions of the original. Sounded good and cost less to rent, too. I know that "Annie" has a Jr. edition, and I’d assume that anything that did would be well known. BTW- good dance stuff us usually done by a LOCAL choreographer, so as to fit YOUR group. Break a leg.
