Tickets for the movie cost $8 for children and $13 dollars for adults. 500 people attended the movie and a total of $5805 worth of tickets were sold. How many adult tickets were sold?

Let A = number of adult tickets sold
Thus, 500-A = number of child tickets sold

Money from selling adult tickets: 13A
Money from selling child tickets: 8(500-A)
13A + 8(500-A) = 5805

13A + 4000 - 8A = 5805
5A = 1805
A = 361

361 adult tickets were sold (and 139 child tickets)
