What kind of tickets to you need to walk on top of the hoover dam?

I saw online 2 types of tickets-The Hoover Dam Tour which includes going under the hoover dam, looking at it’s turbines and such, and I saw an area for visitors center tickets. Do I need to purchase the tour tickets to gain access on top of the hoover dam to walk across it? That’s all I want to do, just walk across it and see the beautiful view.

Its free to walk on the top of hoover dam -

*** Pedestrians are prohibited from the top of the dam during hours of darkness.

*** Parking Garage: Open 8:00 a.m. — Close 5:45 p.m. Parking fee: $7.00

*** Gift shop concession is located at the base of the Parking Garage

  1. You need to pay the National Park Service to enter the area. There is a little toll both at the entry point. Like $25. Then if you do not care about the tour of the generators and stuff. Walking on the dam roadway is free. There’s a parking charge, if memory serves me. Was a few years back.
    It is a great day.
    Also the squirrles are so tame there, that they will take candy and snacks from your hand.

  4. we parked on the arizona side on our last trip and did not have to pay. the time before that we parked in the garage. the tour is well worth the money.

  6. There is a road and walkway across the top of Hoover Dam and there is no charge to walk across. Take a look at vegasnature.com and click on the hoover dam picture to see a video about the dam.
